Low Voltage Technician

Job Description:

The Low Voltage Technician (LVT) is a pre-install position that readies the customer location for installation by Support Technicians. LVTs are responsible for site wiring, mount installation, and computer hardware placement. LVTs are responsible for post-install cabling and mount installations or moves.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Data runs
  • Installation of network racks
  • Installation and punch down of patch panels
  • Installation and termination of mud rings, wall plates and jacks
  • A/V runs
  • Installation and configuration of A/V systems
  • Installation of ceiling and wall mounts
  • Placement of computer and network equipment
  • Placement of printers and peripherals


  • Minimum of 2 years experience in data, security and/or low voltage industries
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision making skills for troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of data, A/V and security
  • Must be able to mount network/server racks, LCD and CPU mounts
  • Must be able to work on a ladder, lift, push and/or pull 50 pounds or more, stand for long periods, and be able to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Power Limited Technician (PLT) license required
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance

Additional Details:

  • Must have basic computer knowledge
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the state, and possibly into neighboring states, to perform service calls and installations
  • Willingness and ability to work some nights and weekends as required with some out of town overnight trips
  • Ideal candidate will have previous wiring or data experience (Audio Installer, Network Installer, Cable Installer, etc.)
